Who is Jody Rael?
Inspired by the natural beauty and wildflowers that grew on the Kansas plains, I carried a camera with me everyday, after just beginning high school. Since that time, I have developed a love for senior portrait work, resulting from my years as a high school teacher.
Before becoming a professional photographer in 2004, I taught at Faith Lutheran — instructing both high school and middle school journalism, English, and digital photography. I have a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education and a Master’s in Creative Nonfiction English from Kansas State. I greatly enjoyed teaching at Faith Lutheran for nearly 10 years, since 2001. Since 2010, I refocused my career for just my photography studio, but I still have close ties with Faith Lutheran.
Now instead of telling stories with only words, my passion has revisited visual storytelling with my images.
I belong to several photography groups, including WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International), NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals), and PPA (Professional Photographers of America). After receiving awards from Seniors Ignite, a national photographers’ organization for education in photography and business, my work is featured in the print SEEN magazine as well as on Seniors Ignite and We Are the SEEN websites.
Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, I focus on high school senior portraiture.
My team and I look forward to serving your photographic needs. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or comments. Be sure to check out my blog for behind-the-scenes insights on photoshoots, tips and studio fun!
